Perihelion- the point in the orbit of a planet or a comet at
which it is closest to the sun.
Imbecility- stupidity; silliness; absurdity.
Slipshod- careless, untidy, or slovenly
Dowdy- not neat or tidy; shabby.
Infirmity- a physical weakness or ailment.
Stenographer- a person who specializes in taking dictation
in shorthand.
Denizen- an inhabitant; a resident
The article “A Message to Garcia” is about how employers and
people are looking for others who can be entrusted with a task and being able
to complete it without out questions such as: “Where?” “How” or “Why?” They are
also looking for people who can do that task without a complaint. The author of
this article is saying that in today’s society, people are more concerned about
themselves. The author finds that people get caught up in their own greed and
look for more money when getting a job and are more concerned about the wage
then the actual job. The author wants us all to be concerned about our job and
not necessarily the reward because the hard work will pay off.
